A Livestock Farm in the Valley
- Bluefield Livestock Farm is a family business raising cattle, sheep and goats and preparing its own feed.Our barn holds calves, young bulls and heifers; our fold holds lambs, yearlings and rams. Every animal’s ear tag number, arrival date, live weight record and feed ration are kept separately. Buyers can visit the farm, watch the animal walking in the paddock, weigh it on the scale with us and decide with the ticket in hand.
We Like to Get Straight to Work
We tell you openly how old an animal is, how long we have raised it and what it weighs on the scale. The price is agreed per kilogram of live weight and written on the scale ticket. Since the daily live weight price follows the market, we suggest you call for today’s rate.
Live Animal Delivery Across the Region
We deliver live animals to the town and surrounding villages with our own livestock trailer. A veterinary health report and transport document are issued before every delivery, and the vehicle is washed and disinfected afterwards. For longer distances we agree delivery terms in advance.
- We Make Our Own Feed:We mix barley, wheat bran, corn silage and hay in our own feed unit on the farm. The ration is adjusted to the animal’s age and fattening stage; daily intake and live weight gain go into the log book.We never buy in ready-mixed feed for the barn.
- Scale Ticket and Ear Tag Record:Every animal sold goes on the scale, its live weight is read while you are there and a duplicate ticket is issued. The ear tag number is written on the ticket, so the animal’s record matches the document in your hand exactly.
- You Choose How It’s Delivered:You can take the animal live in your own vehicle, have us deliver it to your address, or have it processed at our partner butchery and collect the meat. We note your processing, cutting and packing requests at the time of sale.
How Buying Works at Bluefield
Choose in the Paddock:You are welcome to walk through the barns. We accompany visitors who want to see the animal walking, watch it feed and look at it up close. No rush; the decision is yours.
Ear Tag, Vaccination and Report Record:Every animal’s ear tag, vaccination record and vet check details are kept on file. Whenever you ask, we open the file and show its full record from the day it arrived on the farm.
Bulk Meat Orders:We keep a separate section for bulk meat orders. Licensed butchers carry out the processing at our partner butchery to strict hygiene standards; your cutting instructions are taken beforehand and recorded.
Transport and Delivery Documents:The veterinary health report, transport document and scale ticket are handed over together. When we deliver with our own trailer, we use an unloading ramp so the animal comes off without stress.
